Timmins South water disruption expected March 11, 2026 during emergency watermain repair on Elm Street South

Water service disruptions are expected in Timmins South on March 11, 2026, as the City of Timmins Environmental Services Department carries out an emergency watermain break repair on Elm Street South. The city scheduled the work from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Residents and businesses in the affected area may see short-term loss of water or water pressure during the disruption, and some may notice brown or rust-coloured water, according to the city’s notice.

The city said the notification area includes Elm Street South from Dale Avenue to the dead end, including the easement from Elm Street South to Maple Street South.

The city recommended that people not drink discoloured water or use it to wash laundry. The city said the water is not harmful to health, but it can stain laundry.

If brown or rust-coloured water appears, the city advised residents to turn off the tap and wait 10 to 20 minutes.

Once the work is completed, the city advised residents to turn on the cold water tap closest to the source—usually a laundry tub tap—and run it for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until the water colour has returned to normal.
