2024 Canadian Cannabis Survey Results Released

Health Canada has published the results of the 2024 Canadian Cannabis Survey (CCS), which gathered data from April 4 to July 2, 2024. The survey aims to provide insights into Canadians' knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors regarding cannabis use.

Key findings from the survey include:

  • A continued decline in the proportion of Canadians reporting cannabis smoking.

  • Data collection from approximately 11,666 respondents aged 16 and older across all provinces and territories.

  • Analysis across seven themes: knowledge, attitudes and opinions; cannabis use and products used; sources and purchasing; assessment of higher-risk cannabis use; accidental consumption and adverse reactions; driving and cannabis; and cannabis for medical purposes.

  • New topics explored include ease of access from legal and illegal sources, recall of specific health warning messages, use of pre-rolled and infused joints, and types of edibles consumed.

The survey is part of Health Canada's ongoing efforts to monitor the impact of cannabis legalization and regulation in Canada. The data collected helps in understanding public health and safety trends related to cannabis use.
