Algonquin Boulevard East reopens in Timmins after hydro pole fire

Algonquin Boulevard East in Timmins reopened at 2:26 p.m. after a closure between Balsam Street North and Birch Street North due to a hydro pole fire, Timmins police said.

The temporary closure affected traffic on a busy east-end section of the road, and police had asked drivers to avoid the area and use alternate routes while emergency crews responded.

According to the Timmins Police Service, the road had been closed because of a hydro pole fire on Algonquin Boulevard East between Balsam Street North and Birch Street North.

Police said emergency crews cleared the scene and normal traffic flow resumed once the road reopened.

Police did not say whether anyone was injured or how much damage the fire caused.
