An animated short film focusing on heart health and access to remote care in Cree communities has been accepted into the Toronto Shorts International Film Festival. The film was developed through a collaboration between the University Health Network (UHN), Transform HF, and the Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA). Contributors to the project include Rachel Corston from Moose Cree First Nation, Beatrice Chen from the University of Toronto, Elder Greg Spence from WAHA, and Dr. Sahr Wali from UHN and the Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research.

The animation addresses challenges faced by community members in accessing specialized care and emphasizes the importance of culturally respectful treatment plans. It also highlights the resilience of the communities and the significance of relationships with family, the land, and overall well-being.

The short film can be viewed on YouTube and has also been featured on CBC Northern Ontario and the Transform HF website.
