Aoun Pistachio Heart recalled for Salmonella risk; sold in Ontario and Quebec, CFIA says

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued a food recall warning on Oct. 11, 2025 for Aoun brand Pistachio Heart (100 g) due to possible Salmonella contamination. The product was sold in Ontario and Quebec.

Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled. Young children, pregnant women, older adults and people with weakened immune systems can develop serious and sometimes deadly infections. Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis.

The recalled product is Aoun brand Pistachio Heart, 100 g, UPC 5 283000 915979, Best Before 2025 OC 20, Lot #302033.

CFIA advises people not to consume, use, sell, serve or distribute the recalled product. The agency says recalled items should be thrown out or returned to the place of purchase, and anyone who thinks they became sick after consuming the product should contact a healthcare provider. CFIA also asks consumers to check their homes for the recalled product.

CFIA says a food safety investigation is underway and may lead to recalls of other products. The agency is verifying that industry is removing the recalled product from the marketplace.

The recall is classified as Class 2 and was published as a food recall warning in the Food - Nuts, grains, and seeds category. The recalling firm is Alimentation du Canada. The recall identification number is RA-78288. CFIA reported no illnesses associated with the product as of Oct. 11, 2025.
