Boil water advisory issued for users west of Mattagami River Bridge in Timmins after pressure loss

Timmins residents and businesses west of the Mattagami River Bridge are under a precautionary boil water advisory effective 2 a.m. on Sept. 25, 2026, after a loss of water pressure during a planned water valve replacement, according to the City of Timmins and Northeastern Public Health.

For households and workplaces in the affected area, the advisory changes how tap water can be used for everyday tasks until the advisory is lifted.

According to the City of Timmins and Northeastern Public Health, people should bring tap water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it for domestic purposes, including drinking, making infant formula and juices, brushing teeth, washing raw foods and making ice.

The advisory also says dishes should be washed with boiled water that has been cooled, or with potable water from an alternative source.

It also requires that water taps be posted with signs indicating the water is not safe to drink.

The boil water advisory will remain in effect until the City of Timmins obtains satisfactory drinking water results in two consecutive sets of samples taken at least 24 hours apart, the notice states.
