Boil-water advisory lifted for Timmins users west of the Mattagami River Bridge

A precautionary boil-water advisory for water users west of the Mattagami River Bridge in Timmins was lifted Sept. 28, the city says.

The advisory had required affected residents and businesses to boil their tap water before using it for drinking and other household needs. It was issued after a planned water valve repair caused a temporary loss of water pressure in the area.

Timmins said it completed required water sampling and that the results were reviewed by both the city and Northeastern Public Health and found satisfactory.

The advisory was issued Sept. 25 and remained in effect until two consecutive sets of drinking water samples confirmed the water met all required safety standards, according to the city’s Environmental Services Department.
