Brief water interruption possible May 7, 2026 on Highway 101 E in South Porcupine, city says

A planned water shutdown attempt on Thursday, May 7, 2026 could briefly interrupt water service or lower water pressure for some properties on Highway 101 E in South Porcupine, according to the City of Timmins. The work is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Highway 101 E between Ferguson Road and Ruth Street.

Homes and businesses in that area may experience a short-term loss of water or pressure during the scheduled window, and the city says some customers could also see brown or rust-coloured water.

The city described the work as emergency work related to its connecting link project.

If the shutdown attempt is successful, water could be off for about 10 to 15 minutes. Service is expected to return once control is confirmed.

The City of Timmins said discoloured water is not harmful to health but can stain laundry. The city recommended residents not drink discoloured water or use it for laundry.

If discoloured water occurs, the city advised residents to turn off their tap for 10 to 20 minutes. After the work is completed, the city said to run cold water from the tap closest to the source—usually a laundry tub tap—for about 15 to 20 minutes. The city said to continue until the water colour returns to normal.
