Canada Allocates Funds for Critical Minerals Projects at Sudbury Conference

The Government of Canada has announced funding for several projects aimed at enhancing the critical minerals sector. This announcement was made during the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development Conference on Mining held in Sudbury. The funding is part of the Global Partnership Initiative (GPI), which supports projects to advance Canada's leadership in critical minerals.

The projects receiving funding include:

  • Quartech Systems Ltd.: Receives $55,000 to enhance supply chain traceability for critical minerals using open-source technology.
  • Aisimpro Inc.: Receives $123,750 to develop a blockchain system for uranium traceability and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) labeling.
  • Peer Ledger Inc.: Receives $165,300 to create an online regulatory sandbox for digital traceability platforms.
  • Optel Group (Optel Vision Inc.): Receives $165,300 to establish greenhouse gas and ESG performance metrics for a Canadian battery supply chain.
  • Northern Block Inc.: Receives $165,300 to improve traceability in the critical minerals industry using digital credentials.
  • International Energy Association: Receives $325,000 to support the Critical Minerals Working Party under the IEA Standing Group on Long-Term Cooperation.

These initiatives are part of Canada's broader strategy to enhance its critical minerals sector and support sustainable mining practices.
