Canada to Implement 25% Tariffs on $30 Billion in U.S. Goods by February 2025

Starting February 4, 2025, the Government of Canada will impose a 25 percent tariff on products valued at $30 billion imported from the United States. This action affects goods marked as originating from the U.S., based on the Determination of Country of Origin for the Purposes of Marking Goods (CUSMA Countries) Regulations. The tariffs are part of measures taken in response to continued U.S. tariff practices.

These tariffs do not apply to U.S. goods in transit to Canada as of the effective date. The Canadian government has made further details available through the Canada Border Services Agency, which provides guidance for businesses and individuals potentially affected by these tariffs. The tariff list aligns with the comprehensive schedule under Canada's Customs Tariff guidelines.
