Canada's Employment Levels Largely Unchanged Despite February Storms

Statistics Canada's Labour Force Survey for February 2025 indicates that employment in Canada remained largely unchanged, with the total number of employed individuals reaching 20,995,000. Notable growth was observed among core-aged women, those aged 25 to 54, where employment increased by 27,000 positions.

During the survey's reference week from February 9 to 15, severe snowstorms were reported to have affected many areas, leading to a fourfold increase in the number of employees losing work hours due to adverse weather conditions when compared to the average over the previous five years.
