Canadian Astronaut Participates in Underwater Lunar Mission Simulation

Canadian Space Agency astronaut Joshua Kutryk recently took part in NASA's SEATEST 7 underwater mission. The mission was conducted on a lunar habitat mockup off Santa Catalina Island in California, at a depth of about nine meters. The exercise aimed to simulate conditions and challenges associated with a permanent lunar presence.

Joshua Kutryk is scheduled for a six-month mission on the International Space Station, set to launch no earlier than 2025. He continues his training and contributes to Canadian space missions and the Artemis program.

The SEATEST 7 mission involved testing various scenarios to plan for future logistics operations on the Moon. These scenarios aimed to recreate some of the conditions and challenges that astronauts might face during a long-term lunar mission.
