Canadian Dental Care Plan to Expand Coverage in 2025

Starting in May 2025, the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) will expand its eligibility to include all Canadians aged 18 to 64. This expansion, announced by the Honourable Kamal Khera, Minister of Health, will take effect on June 1, 2025. Current members are advised to renew their coverage beginning in March 2025 to ensure continued services, as they will need to submit their 2024 tax return and Notice of Assessment, according to Health Canada.

The plan's expansion will follow a structured timeline that rolls out enrollment by age groups, with detailed procedures and schedules provided by Health Canada. This approach is designed to effectively incorporate new applicants into the system.

Statements were made by key officials, including Kamal Khera, who highlighted the expansion's role in enhancing access to dental care. Health Canada has underscored that further instructions regarding applications and renewals will be communicated through their official channels.
