CBSA Reports Seizures and Enforcement Actions in Northern Ontario

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has reported on its enforcement activities in Northern Ontario from January 1 to October 31, 2024. During this period, CBSA officers seized 73 firearms and over 180 other weapons, including prohibited knives and stun guns. Additionally, there were 745 narcotics seizures, with significant quantities of suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine intercepted at Ottawa Cargo Services.

The CBSA's Northern Ontario Region, which includes areas from the Manitoba to Quebec borders, also issued 91 deportation orders and completed 328 removals related to immigration violations. Furthermore, over $632,000 in currency was seized, including suspected proceeds of crime.

The agency highlighted the importance of partnerships with other law enforcement agencies to address organized crime, which operates across international borders. The CBSA's efforts are part of a broader strategy to maintain border security and facilitate the flow of legitimate trade and travel.
