CFIA issues Class 1 recall for Wu Xian Zhai Vegetarian Beef (Sauce) in Ontario over undeclared wheat and egg

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a Class 1 food recall warning for Wu Xian Zhai brand Vegetarian Beef (Sauce), 108 g, distributed in Ontario, citing undeclared wheat and egg. The agency’s notice is dated June 30, 2026.

The CFIA warned that people with wheat or egg allergies or sensitivities, and people with celiac disease or other gluten-related disorders, should not consume the product because it may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction.

The recalled product is sold as Wu Xian Zhai Vegetarian Beef (Sauce) in a 108 g package with UPC 6 924878 900955. The recall applies to all codes where wheat and egg are not declared on the label, the CFIA said.

According to the CFIA, the recall was triggered by a complaint. As of June 30, the agency said there had been no reported reactions linked to consumption of the product.

AJ International Trading is listed as the recalling firm.

The CFIA said it is conducting a food safety investigation that may lead to the recall of other products. The agency also said it is verifying that recalled products are being removed from sale.

The CFIA identification number for the warning is RA-82262.
