The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued a Class 2 food recall warning on December 19, 2025, for certain bulk Arnie’s nut mixes due to possible Salmonella contamination. The products were sold in Ontario, including at Zehr Bayfield in Barrie, Fortinos Highway 7 & Brisbale in Brampton, and Fortinos Major Mackenzie in Vaughan.

CFIA said no illnesses have been reported. The agency advises people not to consume, use, sell, serve or distribute the recalled items, and to throw them out or return them to the place of purchase. Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick, the agency said. Young children, pregnant women, older adults and people with weakened immune systems may face serious and sometimes deadly infections. Healthy people may experience fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea; long-term complications may include severe arthritis.

The recall covers two bulk products:

  • Arnie’s Sweet & Savoury Mix (PLU# 71450), variable size sold in bulk, sold from November 1 to December 2, 2025, at Fortinos Major Mackenzie, 2911 Major Mackenzie Drive, Vaughan.

CFIA said its inspection activities triggered the recall. Loblaw Companies Limited is listed as the recalling firm. The agency is conducting a food-safety investigation that may lead to additional recalls and is verifying that industry is removing the affected products from the marketplace.

The alert is classified as a Food recall warning in the Food - Nuts, grains, and seeds category, identification number RA-81383. The recall was published by the CFIA and lists Ontario as the distribution area.
