CFIA posts Class 1 recall notice for Fresh Start Foods salads in B.C. due to Listeria monocytogenes
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has posted a recall notice for Fresh Start Foods brand salad products distributed in British Columbia because of contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The notice lists the affected items as products intended for hotels, restaurants and institutions, and the agency says they should not be consumed, used, sold, served or distributed.
The recall is a Class 1 recall, which the CFIA uses for situations where there is a reasonable probability that eating the food will cause serious health consequences or death.
According to the CFIA, the recall involves three Fresh Start Foods products from Richmond, B.C.: Brocolli Carbonara Salad Kit (3.05 kg), Cavatappi Mac & Cheese (2 x 2.37 kg), and Cavatappi Mac & Cheese Kit (2 x 2.37 kg).
The CFIA recall notice lists several Julian date and “Best By” codes for the affected products, along with UPC information, tied to the agency’s identification number RA-81868.
The CFIA lists Fresh Start Foods as the recalling firm. The agency’s notice shows a recall date of April 3, 2026, and an original published date of April 10, 2026.
