Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled. Young children, pregnant women, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of serious infection. Symptoms can include fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea; long-term complications may include severe arthritis.

A food-safety investigation is underway and may lead to the recall of other products. CFIA is verifying that industry is removing the recalled items from the marketplace.
CFIA advised consumers to check for the recalled products, not to consume them, and to throw them out or return them to the place of purchase. Anyone who thinks they became sick after consuming a recalled product should contact their healthcare provider, the agency said.
