CFIA recalls Arbutus Foods Madras Curry Couscous due to undeclared mustard
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) published a food recall warning on Feb. 28, 2026, for Arbutus Foods brand Madras Curry Couscous because it contains mustard that is not declared on the label. The CFIA said the product was distributed in British Columbia and possibly other provinces and territories.
The notice is relevant for people with mustard allergies or sensitivities. The CFIA warned that consuming the affected product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction for those who are allergic or sensitive to mustard.
The CFIA listed the following affected products:
- Arbutus Foods — Madras Curry Couscous (400 g) — UPC 6 66359 55347 7; Best Before: 26/MR/12; 26/MR/15; 26/MR/21; 26/MR/23
- Arbutus Foods — Madras Curry Couscous (2 x 2.5 kg) — UPC 6 66359 55270 8; Best Before: 26/MR/1; 26/MR/6; 26/MR/8; 26/MR/12; 26/MR/15; 26/MR/21; 26/MR/23
The CFIA advised consumers not to serve, use, sell or distribute the recalled products. It said recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased.
Arbutus Foods triggered the recall, the CFIA said. The agency also said there have been no reported reactions linked to consumption of the recalled products.
The CFIA said it is conducting a food safety investigation that may lead to recalls of other products. It is also verifying that the recalled products are being removed from the marketplace.
The recall is classified as Class 1 and has identification number RA-81668.
