CFIA recalls Auricchio Gorgonzola D.O.P. Dolce cheese sold in Ontario and Quebec over possible Listeria
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a food recall warning for Auricchio Gorgonzola D.O.P. Dolce cheese, 200 g, sold in Ontario and Quebec because of possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The warning was originally published March 29, 2026.
The CFIA said Listeria infection can cause serious illness, especially in older adults, pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems. The agency said contaminated food may not look or smell spoiled.
The affected product is identified as Auricchio Gorgonzola D.O.P. Dolce, 200 g, with UPC 8 004603 100770, code L 2595282E2, and “Best Before 08/05/2026.”
The CFIA said consumers and businesses should not consume, use, sell, serve or distribute the recalled product. The agency said recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased.
Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes can cause symptoms including vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness, the CFIA said. The agency said infected pregnant women may have mild, flu-like symptoms, but the infection can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn or stillbirth. In severe cases, people may die, the CFIA said.
The CFIA said the recall was triggered by its test results, and that no illnesses have been reported in connection with the product.
The recalling firm is Les Ventes JVS.
The CFIA said it is conducting a food safety investigation that may lead to the recall of other products. The agency said it is also verifying that recalled products are being removed from the marketplace.
The recall is identified as RA-81808 and is classified as Class 1.
