CFIA recalls Chungjungwon Sunchang Ssamjang in 14 kg size over undeclared peanut

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a Class 2 recall for Chungjungwon brand Sunchang Ssamjang (seasoned bean paste) in a 14 kg format because peanut is not declared on the label. The product was distributed in Ontario and New Brunswick, and the CFIA lists the recall date as Sept. 22, 2026.

The notice matters for people and organizations managing food allergies, particularly in settings such as restaurants and institutions where products may be used in prepared meals. Someone with a peanut allergy could have an allergic reaction if they consume a food made with the affected product.

The CFIA said the recall is directed to hotels, restaurants and institutions.

The affected product is identified as Chungjungwon (brand name shown in Korean characters only) Sunchang Ssamjang (seasoned bean paste). The UPC is 8 801052 773261.

The recall covers all codes “where peanut is not declared on the label,” the CFIA said.

The CFIA’s instruction is: “Do not use, sell, serve or distribute the affected product.”

International Produce Trading Inc. is the recalling firm, according to the CFIA.

The recall identification number is RA-82663.
