CFIA recalls Country Grocer Super Mac Mix sold in B.C. over possible Salmonella contamination

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a food recall warning for Country Grocer brand Super Mac Mix sold in bulk in British Columbia because of possible Salmonella contamination. The products were sold from Nov. 18, 2025, up to and including Feb. 24, 2026, and do not have a UPC, the agency said.

The recall affects bulk items that may already be in home cupboards or freezers, and the CFIA said Salmonella contamination may not be visible or detectable by smell.

The recalled products are Country Grocer Super Mac Mix Unsalted and Country Grocer Super Mac Mix Salted, both sold in variable amounts in bulk with no UPC.

The CFIA said consumers should not consume or distribute the recalled products and should throw them out or return them to the location where they were purchased.

The unsalted product was sold at the following Country Grocer stores in B.C.: Chase River (82-12th Street, Nanaimo), Chemainus (3055 Oak Street, Chemainus), Cedar (1824 Cedar Road, Cedar), Royal Oak (4420 West Saanich Road, Victoria), Lake Cowichan (83 Cowichan Lake Road, Lake Cowichan), Duncan (3288 Cowichan Lake Road, Duncan), and Bowen (1800 Dufferin Crescent, Nanaimo).

The CFIA said the salted product was sold at the same locations, plus Cobble Hill (33-1400 Cowichan Bay Road, Cobble Hill) and Salt Spring (374 Lower Ganges Road, Salt Spring Island).

Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick, the CFIA said. The agency said young children, pregnant women, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections.

Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea, according to the CFIA. The agency said long-term complications may include severe arthritis.

The CFIA said the recall was triggered by its inspection activities and that there have been no reported illnesses linked to these products. The recalling firm is Island Independent Buying Group Ltd.
