CFIA recalls Curry Powder Madras products over undeclared mustard

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) updated a food recall warning on Feb. 28, 2026, for several brands of Curry Powder Madras after the agency said the products contain mustard that is not declared on the label; the notice lists distribution in British Columbia.

Undeclared mustard can be a concern for people who are allergic or sensitive to mustard. The CFIA said consuming the recalled products may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction for those individuals.

The recall covers Curry Powder Madras sold under the brands Islands West, Glenwood Meats, The Old Farm Market, Red Barn Market, and Root Cellar Common.

According to the CFIA, the recall was triggered by the company. The recalling firm is Islands West Manufacturers Ltd.

The CFIA said there have been no reported reactions associated with consumption of these products.

The CFIA advises people who are allergic or sensitive to mustard not to consume the recalled products. The agency also says the products should not be served, used, sold or distributed. It says recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased.

The CFIA said it is conducting a food safety investigation that may lead to the recall of other products. It also said it is verifying that industry is removing recalled products from the marketplace.

The recall is classified as Class 1 and identified as RA-81667.
