CFIA recalls Daesang red pepper pastes for undeclared wheat; Ontario among affected provinces

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a Class 2 recall for certain Daesang brand gochujang and red pepper paste products due to undeclared wheat. The recalling firm is Pan Asia Food Co. Ltd. Distribution includes Ontario as well as Alberta, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Quebec and Saskatchewan, according to the CFIA.

The CFIA advises consumers and retailers not to use, sell, serve or distribute the affected products. The agency lists the recall date as October 29, 2025, and shows the notice was published and last updated on December 4, 2025.

Affected products include the following; all codes apply where wheat is not declared on the label:

  • Daesang Hot Pepper Bean Paste, 3 kg, UPC 8 80 1052 435091
