CFIA Recalls Dubai Brand Pistachio & Knafeh Milk Chocolate Over Possible Salmonella Contamination
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a recall for Dubai brand Pistachio & Knafeh Milk Chocolate, 145-gram size, UPC 6 11834 51237 1, with code 225.174, due to possible Salmonella contamination. The recall was announced on August 4, 2025, after tests identified the potential contamination.
According to the CFIA, food contaminated with Salmonella may not show visible signs but can cause illness. The CFIA states that young children, pregnant women, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems are at greater risk of serious infection. Healthy people may experience fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea, and the agency warns of the possibility of severe arthritis as a long-term complication.
The product was distributed online and at stores in Quebec. The recalling firm is Distribution Bonbons JJ Candy. The CFIA advises not to consume, sell, serve, use, or distribute the recalled chocolate. The agency also instructs consumers to throw out the product or return it to the place of purchase.
The recall is classified by the CFIA as Class 2. The agency reports that, as of the recall date, there have been no illnesses associated with this product. The CFIA indicates it is conducting a food safety investigation, which could lead to further recalls if other products are affected. The agency is also verifying that recalled chocolates are being removed from the marketplace.
