CFIA recalls Highgate Tender Meats Honey garlic sausage in Ontario over undeclared wheat

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a Class 1 food recall in Ontario for Highgate Tender Meats Ltd. Honey garlic sausage because it contains undeclared wheat, according to a recall warning posted July 10, 2026. The recall date is listed as July 9, 2026.

The CFIA warning says undeclared wheat and gluten can cause a serious or life-threatening reaction for people who are allergic or sensitive to wheat or gluten, and for those with celiac disease or other gluten-related disorders.

The recalled product is Highgate Tender Meats Ltd. Honey garlic sausage, sold as 1 piece (approximately 1 lb), with UPC 0 200000 505592. The recall applies to “all codes where wheat is not declared on the label,” the CFIA notice says.

The CFIA says people who are allergic or sensitive to wheat or gluten, or who have celiac disease or other gluten-related disorders, should not consume the recalled product. The product should not be served, used, sold, or distributed.

The agency says recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased.

According to the CFIA, the recall was triggered by the agency’s inspection activities. The CFIA said there have been no reported reactions associated with consumption of this product.

The CFIA says it is conducting a food safety investigation that may lead to the recall of other products. The agency also says it is verifying that industry is removing the recalled product from the marketplace.

The CFIA identification number for the recall is RA-82316.
