CFIA recalls Katilo Classic Roomy cheese in Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick over possible Salmonella

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a food recall warning for Katilo Classic Roomy cheese (200 g) due to possible Salmonella contamination. The recalled product was distributed in Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick.

The warning matters for people who may have bought the cheese recently, since food contaminated with Salmonella can still cause illness even if it does not look or smell spoiled.

The CFIA said people should not consume, use, sell, serve or distribute the recalled product. Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased.

The affected product is Katilo Classic Roomy, size 200 g, with UPC 6 223004 833045. Code(s) listed in the notice are: Pro 04 FEB 2026; Epx 03 FEB 2027; P. N0. 35.

According to the CFIA, young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections from Salmonella. The agency said healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea, and that long-term complications may include severe arthritis.

The CFIA said the recall was triggered by its test results, and that no illnesses have been reported.

The recalling firm is listed as 9300341 Canada Inc.

The CFIA said it is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products, and is verifying that industry is removing recalled products from the marketplace.

The recall was originally published March 11, 2026. It is classified as Class 2 (identification number RA-81729).
