CFIA recalls Nishel Foods Pork Neck Bone Soup for undeclared wheat

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued a Class 1 food recall warning on Oct. 17, 2025, for Nishel Foods brand Pork Neck Bone Soup because wheat is not declared on the label. The recall covers 1 kg packages with UPC 6 27843 30541 5 and all expiry dates up to and including Sept. 18, 2026, where wheat is not listed among ingredients. The product was distributed in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. The CFIA says no reactions have been reported.

The CFIA states that undeclared wheat and gluten can cause serious or life‑threatening reactions in people with wheat allergies or celiac disease. The agency advises consumers with these conditions not to consume the recalled soup and to avoid serving, using, selling or distributing it. According to the CFIA, recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the place of purchase.

The affected item appears in the CFIA notice as Nishel Foods “Pork Bone Neck Soup,” 1 kg, UPC 6 27843 30541 5, with all EXP dates up to and including 2026‑09‑18 where wheat is not declared on the label. The product name is listed as “Pork Neck Bone Soup” in the recall headline and “Pork Bone Neck Soup” in the affected products table. The recalling firm is Nishel Butcher Shop Ltd.

The issue is classified by the CFIA under Food – Allergen – Wheat and Food – Allergen – Gluten, and the alert category is Food – Other. The recall carries identification number RA‑78312. The notice was originally published Oct. 17, 2025, and last updated the same day, according to the agency.

The CFIA says the recall was triggered by its inspection activities. The agency is conducting a food safety investigation that may lead to recalls of other products and is verifying that industry is removing the recalled soup from the marketplace.
