CFIA Recalls Plant Up Plant Based Butter & Chik’n Bites for Undeclared Milk
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has updated a recall for Plant Up brand Plant Based Butter & Chik’n Bites due to the presence of undeclared milk. The update, issued on June 7, 2024, follows an initial recall first announced on June 6, 2024. The CFIA states that new product information was identified during a food safety investigation.
According to the CFIA, the recalled product may pose a risk to people who have an allergy to milk. The package does not list milk as an ingredient, which could result in a serious or life-threatening reaction for those with this allergy.
The CFIA reports that the product was distributed nationally, including stores in Northern Ontario. The agency advises that consumers should not consume, serve, use, sell, or distribute the affected item. Products should be disposed of or returned to the place of purchase.
The CFIA states that its investigation is ongoing and further recalls may be issued if additional high-risk products are identified.
