CFIA recalls Premier Nuts in-shell pistachios over Salmonella risk

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued a Class 2 recall notice on Oct. 20, 2025, for Premier Nuts brand in-shell pistachios due to possible Salmonella contamination. The affected 30‑pound Salted and Lime & Saffron bags were distributed in Alberta and British Columbia.

The notice is directed to retailers. The CFIA advises not to use, sell, serve or distribute the affected products. Ontario was not listed in the distribution.

Premier Nuts Enterprises Ltd. is the recalling firm.

The recall covers Premier Nuts Pistachio In-shell Salted, 30‑pound bags (UPC 394255084979) in Lot PR-S01 with a best-before date of Feb. 21, 2026, and Lot PR-S02 with a best-before date of Mar. 1, 2026.

It also covers Premier Nuts Pistachio In-shell Lime & Saffron, 30‑pound bags (UPC 360193405123) in Lot PR-LS02 with a best-before date of Feb. 26, 2026, and Lot PR-LS03 with a best-before date of Mar. 10, 2026.

The alert type is Notification in the food category “Nuts, grains, and seeds.” The issue is listed as “Food — Microbial contamination — Salmonella.”
