CFIA recalls Salem Foods spices and blends over undeclared wheat and mustard
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued a food recall warning on May 1, 2026, for a range of Salem Foods ground spices and spice blends sold nationally, saying the products may contain undeclared wheat and mustard (recall ID RA-82008).
The CFIA says the recall is relevant for people with wheat or mustard allergies, as well as those with celiac disease or other gluten-related disorders, because consuming the affected products could cause a serious or life-threatening reaction.
According to the agency, the recalled products are being removed from the marketplace because they may contain wheat and mustard that are not declared on the label.
The recall includes the following Salem Foods products for all codes where wheat and mustard are not declared on the label:

The CFIA said the recall was triggered by agency test results, and it reported that there have been no reported reactions associated with consumption of the affected products.
The agency advises consumers to check whether they have any of the recalled products. The CFIA also says people who are allergic or sensitive to wheat or mustard, or who have celiac disease or other gluten-related disorders, should not consume the recalled products. It also advises that recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the place where they were purchased.
The recalling firm is listed as 1690161 Ontario Inc. The CFIA said it is conducting a food safety investigation that may lead to additional recalls and is verifying that recalled products are being removed from the marketplace.
