CFIA recalls Smarter Snacks Vegan Protein Puff Chili & Lime for undeclared milk

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a food recall warning for Smarter Snacks Vegan Protein Puff Chili & Lime Flavored after the agency said the product was found to contain milk that is not declared on the label.

The warning is aimed at people with a milk allergy or sensitivity. CFIA said consuming the product could cause a serious or life-threatening reaction. The product was distributed nationally and sold online.

The recalled product is Smarter Snacks Vegan Protein Puff Chili & Lime Flavored (50 g) with UPC 8 684041 306837.

The affected codes are:

The recall was triggered by CFIA test results, according to the agency.

CFIA advises people with a milk allergy or sensitivity not to consume the product. CFIA also advises consumers not to serve, use, sell or distribute it. The agency said recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased.

The recall is classified as Class 1 and is listed under identification number RA-82687. The recalling firm is Empire Health Distribution Inc.

CFIA said there have been no reported reactions associated with consumption of the product.

CFIA said it is conducting a food safety investigation that could lead to additional recalls. The agency said it is also verifying that recalled products are being removed from the marketplace.
