CFIA recalls Zhou Hei Ya wide vermicelli with sesame sauce for undeclared shrimp
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued a food recall warning on Aug. 13, 2026, for Zhou Hei Ya brand Wide Vermicelli with Sesame Sauce (248 g) because it contains shrimp that is not declared on the label. The product was distributed in Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan.
CFIA said the product may pose a risk to people with crustacean or shellfish allergies or sensitivities, and may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction.
The recalled product is Zhou Hei Ya (Chinese characters only) Wide Vermicelli with Sesame Sauce, 248 g. The UPC is 6 978378 870324. The affected codes are 2026/03/13 and 2026/10/12.
The recall was triggered by a consumer complaint. CFIA reported one reaction associated with consumption of the product.
J.L. Trading Co. Ltd. is the recalling firm.
CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation that may lead to recalls of other products. The agency is also verifying that recalled products are being removed from the marketplace.
The notice lists the recall as Class 2 and gives identification number RA-82481.
