CFIA says Fresh Prep chorizo and sweet potato tacos recalled due to undeclared wheat
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) says Fresh Prep Foods Inc. has recalled Fresh Prep brand Chorizo & Sweet Potato Tacos (also labelled “Chorizo Tacos”) because the product contains undeclared wheat. The agency advises people not to use, sell, serve or distribute the affected product.
The recall may matter to residents with wheat allergies or sensitivities, as undeclared allergens can pose a health risk for some consumers. People who have the product at home may want to check the packaging details listed in the CFIA notice.
According to the CFIA notice, the affected product is sold under the Fresh Prep brand as “Chorizo & Sweet Potato Tacos (Chorizo Tacos)” in a 1,150 g package.
The CFIA lists the UPC as “None,” and the code as “None,” with the notice specifying the recall applies to packages delivered from Jan. 17 to Jan. 22, 2026.
The CFIA’s distribution section lists Alberta and British Columbia. Ontario is not listed in the notice’s distribution section.
The CFIA lists the recall as Class 3 and provides the identification number RA-81564. The recall date is Jan. 28, 2026, and the notice lists the original published date as Feb. 5, 2026.
