CFIA warns of Long and Short Nakki recall in Ontario over undeclared mustard
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) published a food recall warning on March 20 for Long Nakki and Short Nakki, processed meat products distributed in Ontario, because they contain mustard that is not declared on the label.
The CFIA said people who are allergic or sensitive to mustard should not consume the recalled products, warning they may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction.
European Meats & Deli is listed as the recalling firm. In the recall table, the brand field is shown as “None – European Meats & Deli.”
The affected products are listed with a size of “Variable.” For Long Nakki, the UPC starts with 0 206005; for Short Nakki, the UPC starts with 0 206007. The recall applies to all codes where mustard is not declared on the label.
The CFIA said the recall was triggered by inspection activities. The agency said no reactions have been reported.
The CFIA’s notice also says recalled products should not be served, used, sold, or distributed. It says the products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased.
The recall is classified as Class 1, with identification number RA-81709.
The CFIA said it is conducting a food safety investigation that may lead to the recall of other products, and that it is checking that recalled products are being removed from the marketplace.
