Cochrane Approves Zoning By-law Amendment for Grain Farm
The Town of Cochrane has passed a by-law to amend the existing Zoning By-law 968-2013. This amendment, identified as By-law 1608-2024, was approved on October 22, 2024. The changes affect the zoning regulations for a specific area in Glackmeyer Township, specifically South Part Lot 24, Concession 3, being Parts 1 and 2 on 6R-8511.
The purpose of this amendment is to permit the establishment of a grain farm headquarters on the designated lands. This includes facilities for machinery storage, a workshop or office, and grain storage, handling, and shipping facilities, which will include rail siding. Additionally, the amendment allows for a reduced lot frontage of approximately 60.51 meters for the specified area.
Residents and interested parties should note that appeals against this by-law can be made to the Ontario Land Tribunal. Appeals must be filed by November 12, 2024, with the Planning Department of the Town of Cochrane. Only individuals, corporations, and public bodies are eligible to file an appeal.
The complete by-law is available for inspection at the Town Hall during regular business hours. Further details can be requested from the Town's Planning Department.
