Cochrane Council Enacts Housing Development By-laws

The Town of Cochrane Council has enacted two by-laws to facilitate housing development in the area. On January 14, 2025, the council passed By-law 2025-05 and By-law 2025-06. These by-laws establish a Growth Community Improvement Project Area and implement a Growth Community Improvement Plan.

The Town of Cochrane Council states that the Community Improvement Plan aims to encourage housing projects within the Cochrane Settlement Area. The plan includes financial incentives for the development, redevelopment, and renovation of housing, including affordable options.

The council received four written submissions regarding the plan, which were considered in its finalization. Feedback from residents and stakeholders was incorporated into the plan.

The Community Improvement Plan is now open to appeals. Any appeals must be submitted by February 14, 2025, as per the Planning Act regulations.
