Cochrane council to hold special meeting Feb. 19 on official plan review
Cochrane town council will hold a special meeting on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026, at 6 p.m. at town hall (171 Fourth Ave.) to discuss the Cochrane and Suburban Planning Area official plan review and update, including possible revisions to the plan.
The official plan sets policies for how the community is expected to grow and how land is used within the planning area. The review is intended to look at existing land-use planning policies and whether they align with local and provincial goals and objectives.
According to the Town of Cochrane’s notice, the Cochrane and Suburban Planning Board and the town are reviewing and updating the Cochrane and Suburban Planning Area Official Plan, which covers all lands within the planning area.
The town’s notice says the review will also consider planning issues that affect the community.
Council is holding the meeting under Section 26(3) of Ontario’s Planning Act.
