Cochrane Residents Experience Hard Water Amid Repairs
Residents in Cochrane are currently experiencing harder water due to a non-functional water softening system at the local Water Treatment Plant. Cochrane's Infrastructure Services reports that the system's age has made it difficult to source replacement parts. Most parts are expected to arrive within two weeks, with one part potentially delayed until February 17, 2025.
A new water softening system was ordered on January 23, 2025, on an emergency basis, with delivery anticipated in May or June. During this period, the water remains safe for consumption, although residents may notice limescale buildup and spotting on dishes.
Infrastructure Services continues to address the issue and is working towards a resolution as parts and the new system become available.
