Driver issued three offence notices after Timmins police spot ATV without plates near Gold Mine and Vipond roads
Timmins police say a driver was issued three provincial offence notices after officers saw the person operating an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) without licence plates near Gold Mine Road and Vipond Road on July 20.
The incident is a reminder for local ATV riders that traffic and registration rules can apply when using roadways or other permitted areas in and around Timmins.
According to the Timmins Police Service, officers observed the ATV being driven without plates at about 4:07 p.m. Police said the notices were issued after an investigation.
The driver was issued provincial offence notices for:
- Drive Motor Vehicle – No Plates
- Fail to Apply for Permit – Becoming Owner
- Owner Operate on Highway – No Insurance
In its public statement, Timmins police said ATV owners and operators are responsible for ensuring vehicles are properly registered, plated and insured where required by law.
Police also said operating an uninsured or unregistered ATV can lead to significant fines and “places both the operator and others at risk.”
