Dubai Brand Pistachio & Knafeh Milk Chocolate Recalled in Ontario for Possible Salmonella Contamination
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has recalled Dubai brand Pistachio & Knafeh Milk Chocolate (145 g, UPC 6 11834 51237 1, all codes up to and including 225.090) because of possible Salmonella contamination. The recall was published on September 4, 2025, and applies to products distributed online and in Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick.
According to the CFIA, the recall is part of an ongoing investigation into a foodborne illness outbreak. The Public Health Agency of Canada is also investigating related reports of human illness.
The CFIA advises anyone who has purchased this product not to consume, use, sell, serve, or distribute it, and says recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the place of purchase. The agency notes that food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still cause illness.
The CFIA states that young children, pregnant people, older adults, and individuals with weakened immune systems are at higher risk for serious or sometimes deadly infections. For others, symptoms after infection may include fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. Long-term complications can include severe arthritis.
According to the CFIA, the recall was triggered by findings made during its food safety investigation. The agency says it is verifying that affected products are being removed from the market. Distribution Bonbons JJ Candy is identified as the recalling firm. The CFIA also notes that its investigation may result in further recalls as necessary.
