Durham Region Transit Launches Electric Buses for Emission Reduction

Durham Region Transit (DRT) has introduced six electric buses as part of its E-Mission Zero program. This initiative aims to achieve zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2037 through a sustainable network of vehicles, infrastructure, and facilities. The new battery electric buses will help DRT evaluate and plan for a transition to a full fleet of zero-emission buses.

The E-Mission Zero program represents a step towards reducing environmental impact by incorporating electric buses into the transit system. This development in Durham Region may influence similar sustainable public transportation strategies in other areas, including Northeast Ontario.
