Durham Region Transit Rolls Out Electric Buses
Durham Region Transit (DRT) has introduced six new electric buses as part of its ongoing efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This development is a component of the E-Mission Zero program, which aims to achieve zero emissions by 2037.
The introduction of these electric buses represents a step towards DRT's goal of transitioning to a fleet of zero-emission vehicles. The current deployment will assist in evaluating the performance and integration of electric buses into the existing transit system.
The E-Mission Zero program is designed to support sustainable public transportation by incorporating zero-emission vehicles, infrastructure, and facilities. The data collected from the operation of these buses will inform future expansions and adjustments to the program.
