Emergency water service valve replacement in Timmins South may affect pressure and water colour March 4

An emergency water service valve replacement in Timmins South on March 4, 2026 could cause short-term low water pressure and brown or rust-coloured tap water in parts of Columbus Avenue and Cameron Avenue, according to the City of Timmins Environmental Services Department. The work is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Columbus Ave. between Rea St. S and Cameron Ave., and on Cameron Ave. between Wende Ave. and Columbus Ave.

The city said the disruption could affect households and businesses in the immediate area for much of the day, and it provided guidance for residents who notice discoloured water during or after the work.

The city advises residents not to drink discoloured water or use it for laundry while the work is underway. The city said the discoloured water is not harmful to health, but it can stain laundry.

If brown or rust-coloured water appears during the repair, the city advises residents to stop running the tap and wait 10 to 20 minutes.

After the work is completed, the city advises residents to run cold water from the tap closest to the source—usually a laundry tub tap—for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until the water returns to its normal colour.

The notice was issued by the City of Timmins Environmental Services Department.
