Emergency watermain repair in South Porcupine may disrupt water on Tisdale Avenue Feb. 23
An emergency watermain break repair in South Porcupine may disrupt water service on Tisdale Avenue from Smith Street to Goldrush Road on Feb. 23, according to the City of Timmins. The work is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and may affect nearby properties, including Golden Manor.
For residents and businesses in the area, the city says the repair could cause short-term water outages, reduced water pressure, or brown or rust-coloured water during the disruption.
In a notice dated Feb. 23, the City of Timmins Environmental Services Department advised people not to drink discoloured water or use it for laundry. The city said the discoloured water is not harmful to health, but it can stain clothing.
If water turns brown or rust-coloured, residents should turn off the tap for 10 to 20 minutes, the city said.
After the work is completed, residents should run cold water from the tap closest to the water source (usually a laundry-tub tap) for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until the water clears, the city said.
