Extreme cold weather alert in effect in Timmins on Feb. 20; temperatures expected to reach -23 C overnight

An extreme cold weather alert is in effect in Timmins for Friday, Feb. 20, 2026, with temperatures expected to drop to -23 C overnight, including wind chill.

The City of Timmins said exposure to extreme cold can cause serious, sometimes life-threatening health problems, including frostbite and hypothermia.

The city advised residents to avoid wind exposure, dress in warm layers, and cover exposed skin.

People requiring emergency shelter can attend 316 Spruce St. S. for assistance.

The city posted the alert at 11:16 a.m. Friday.
