Timmins was under an extreme cold weather alert on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, with temperatures expected to drop to -30 overnight, including wind chill, according to a notice from the City of Timmins.

The alert includes a warning about the health risks linked to extreme cold and points residents to an emergency shelter location, information that can be especially important for people who need a warm place to stay overnight.

In its notice, the city warned that exposure to extreme cold temperatures can cause “serious and sometimes even life-threatening health problems,” including frostbite and hypothermia.

The city also advised residents to avoid wind exposure, dress in warm layers and cover exposed skin.

People requiring emergency shelter can attend 316 Spruce St. S. for assistance, the city said.
