Federal Government Announces Committees to Boost Productivity and Interprovincial Trade

On August 27, 2024, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat announced several initiatives aimed at boosting productivity and reducing regulatory barriers. Anita Anand, President of the Treasury Board, will establish a working group to examine productivity and inform the government's economic plan. This group will address barriers to achieving greater efficiencies for businesses across the country.

A meeting with federal, provincial, and territorial ministers of the Committee on Internal Trade is scheduled for September 26, 2024, to discuss decreasing the costs of goods and services and allowing freer movement of labor within Canada. Minister Anand will also travel to Washington, D.C., on September 4, 2024, to advance the work of the Canada-US Regulatory Cooperation Council.
