Five arrested after Sept. 29 Timmins drug investigation; publication ban limits bail hearing details
Timmins police executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence on Tuesday, Sept. 29, arresting five people and laying CDSA charges.
A publication ban is in place on the bail hearing in the case, which limits what information can be reported publicly, including the identities of the accused.
According to the Timmins Police Service, the investigation began in September 2026 and was carried out jointly by the service’s Drug Enforcement Unit and the Ontario Provincial Police Northeast Region Community Street Crime Unit.
Police said the search warrant was executed by the Timmins Police Service Emergency Response Team.
The police service did not release the names of the accused or the specific counts, stating only that all five face charges under the CDSA. Police also did not identify the substances involved or provide quantities.
Staff Sgt. Camirand, in a statement issued by Timmins police, described the investigation as a joint effort and referred to “removing significant quantities of dangerous illicit drugs from our community.” The police service did not provide additional details about what was removed.
Timmins police said a Section 517 publication ban applies to “information (including the name of the individual), evidence, or representations made at the bail hearing.” The release said bail conditions, along with any evidence or materials relied upon at the hearing, are prohibited from disclosure while the ban is in effect.
