Highway 101 East closed in Porcupine after two-vehicle crash; both directions shut between Lawrence and Bristol

Highway 101 East is closed in both directions between Lawrence Street and Bristol Road in Porcupine after what police called a “serious” two-vehicle collision on the evening of Dec. 7. The Timmins Police Service advised motorists to avoid the area, expect significant delays, and use alternate routes. The conditions of those involved are unknown.

The closure affects traffic through the east side of Timmins and will remain in place while the scene is managed and examined. Police have not provided an estimate for when the roadway will reopen.

Emergency responders are on scene and an investigation is underway. Police said the collision was reported earlier in the evening.

“We are asking motorists and members of the public to avoid the area. Please expect significant delays and use alternative routes. We also ask for patience as emergency crews work diligently to ensure public safety,” the Timmins Police Service said in an advisory posted Sunday.

Police said further information will be released when it becomes available. The advisory did not include details about the vehicles involved or the cause of the crash.
